It took me few hours in the evening to finish this cowl. It is a one stitch pattern. No need to count stitches or rows. Back loop single crochet all the way!. Sometimes all one need to relax is a mindless project , right?
The Loops & Threads® Impeccable™ Yarn, Ombre as a pooling effect, ie the backgroung color design of the cowl. I just let the yarn do its thing, which means that if I do it again the background pattern might be totally different. I like being surprised that way.
I paired the ombre yarn (less than 1 skein) with a complimentary solid color yarn.
What you need to make your own Stillness Cowl:
- Color A = Red Heart® Super Saver® Yarn, Solid Frost Green
- Color B = Loops & Threads® Impeccable™ Yarn Ombre Stillness
- 5 mm hook
- tapestry needle
Instruction
Abbreviation: ch = chain; sc = single crochet; blsc = backloop single crochet
To make a nice transition when changing yarn follow this tip: –At the end of the row when working the last blsc, finish the stitch with the next color to be used
In this pattern since you are changing yarn every other row you don’t need to carry the yarn not in use. Just drop the yarn and pick it again when you ready to use it.
ch 75 (about 30 inches long)
row 1: with color A, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch (74 sc), turn
row 2: ch 1 (does not count as a stitch throughout), 1 blsc in each sc, turn
row 3 – 4: with color B
ch 1, 1 blsc in each sc, turn
row 5 – 6: with color A ch 1, 1 blsc in each sc, turn
repeat row 3-4 and row 5-6 nine times
A Total of 42 rows for this project. You can modify the height of this cowl. Work more rows to get a taller cowl, or less rows to get a shorter one. Mine is 25 inches when stretched
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing the sides
With a tapestry needle, sew the sides of the cowl together
voilà! You just finished your Wreath Cowl
